I think Google, like many other companies, sees ebooks as the future of publishing. Having an entirely digital product themselves,it seems natural that they would throw their hats into this market.
I'm not certain that I would buy books through Google though. I lot would depend on how their system was set up and their pricing sructure. (Full disclosure moment: I'm a Kindle owner and a die hard Amazon.com fan.)
Will this venture be a wise choice for Google? I'm not sure. I wish them all the best as any business is tough in this economy. But I honestly believe that only time will tell.
